Mark Smedley's 67 911S hot Rod was on the cover of the Esses Magazine about a year ago. It has a full layout story in the issue. Chris

I hope he doesn’t try to do anything but preserve it. I’d tell him a few experts in that area if he pm’d me.

He'll do right by the car and he's already in touch with some of the right people. No worries.

I’m sure he has the best intent. But the flashy names aren’t the right people so I’m not sure he know who’s the best preservationists as it hasn’t been his or your area of collecting. They aren’t shop but individuals. We all learn from our mistakes.

The light restoration business is the strongest in 2+ years. A bit surprising given the overall softening of car prices and the availability of reproductions at lower prices than restored originals, but I’m currently restoring five sets of original Bosch H1’s and nine sets of original Cibié Bi-Iodes, among other things. I’ve just about reached my limit of bookings.

Certainly the market has tiered by collectibility and rarity

I purchased a relatively rare Porsche last week and the market has perhaps moved sideways but not down. It’s hard to tell when the supply is so thin that you don’t see examples that often and the car itself matters the most.

I suspect that most collectible marques go through a similar sorting. We could probably study one that moved ahead of Porsches to get an idea of segmented market moves.

John, Given the fact that early 356 and 911's have headlights that are about as good as a 60's Eveready flashlight, I think you are in a good market place.
