    300147

    VIN = 300147
    Eng# = 900269
    Trans# = 100181

'. . . We are delighted to present for sale this extremely rare, first-year-of-production 1964 Porsche 901/911. One of the original 232 cars built by Porsche during the first three months of 911 production, between October and December 1964 . . .

. . . 1964-built Porsche 901/911s are known to uniquely feature many identifying pre-mass production parts differences when compared to 1965 or ‘66 model year cars. The 232 Registry Group have, over recent years, collectively researched and produced a detailed 1964 Parts Study and continue to share this information amongst this special group of circa 50 surviving cars and their owners . . .

. . . Chassis #300 147 was delivered new in Sweden to the official Swedish Porsche importer, Scania-Vabis. Finished in Signal Red with Black vinyl interior, the car was initially used for launch and demonstration purposes by Scania to promote the new Porsche 911 model and #147 was extensively featured in several road test magazines of the day, seen bearing its first registration number of B7004 . . .

. . . In December 1965 the car was sold by Scani-Vabis to Swedish racing driver Anders Josephson and re-registered AB 20195. Josephson was born into one of Sweden's most influential families, and inherited a business empire encompassing textiles, pattern making and retail fashion stores. He also had his own race team - Anders Josephson Racing. Between 1967 – 1969, chassis #147 was raced extensively by Josephson in the Swedish Touring Car Championships (finishing 2nd in the 1968 championship) and during the winter months was regularly driven in ice racing . . .

. . . Throughout 1967, the car wore the Anders Josephson Racing Team’s Red Star on the bonnet but in 1968, it was distinctively re-liveried in the Josephson Textiles, ‘sixties sunflower pattern, which remains on the car today, applied in vinyl in the original way . . .

. . . During its ‘sixties racing years, #147 was photographed extensively both on and off the track and has been featured twice on the cover of Swedish Motorsport Magazine. The car is very well documented and according to Swedish registration records, was eventually sold by Josephson in 1970, having had just two further owners, until then being retired and taken off the road . . .

. . . Chassis #147 was imported to the UK in 2010/11 in need of a total restoration and was purchased by Lee Maxted-Page in 2012. The car has subsequently been the subject of an extensive two-year, ground-up restoration by Maxted-Page & Prill Ltd with meticulous attention to detail in an effort to correctly preserve or restore its original 1964 build details and Swedish racing heritage . . .

. . . Given that #147 is one of the earliest known racing 911s, the car has also, during restoration, been fully prepared for historic racing use. It is fitted with a freshly rebuilt and dyno-tested, January 1965, Type 901/01 2.0 litre F.I.A. race engine with Solex carburetors (producing 177.3hp @ 7,150rpm). It also has a fully rebuilt, shorter ratio, 901 gearbox with limited-slip differential, modern Recaro race seat, bespoke roll cage, Shroth harness and zero 360 extinguisher system in accordance with its current F.I.A papers. Other rare competition parts include an original steel, 100 litre endurance racing fuel tank, a very rare 1960s sports seat and a correctly trimmed interior with African mahogany dashboard, ‘64 date-stamped instruments, boucle carpets, Plexiglass windows, etc. . . .

. . . Following its restoration, the car first appeared at Salon Prive in 2013 where it was awarded “The Most Iconic Car” prize. Subsequently it has been raced just twice - in the 2013 Spa 6 hours historic race and at Mugello Classic in April 2014 . . .

. . . Chassis #300 147 is now offered for sale, in immaculate, race-ready condition, complete with UK road registration and MoT, plus current F.I.A. HTP paperwork, Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and a fully documented history and restoration file . . .

. . . An opportunity for the serious Porsche collector to acquire a genuine and extremely rare first-year-of-production example with fantastic period competition history . . .

    . . . Price £POA . . .

It wouldn't surprise me if Anders Josephson appears in more than one place in this gigantic (and fantastic) thread. See post #233 for example.

Also try a picture search on Google for "Team Tyger" ("Team Fabric" in Swedish).

Wow, that is beautiful. Love that mahogany dash!

The ad mentions that there are "circa 50 surviving cars" of the first 232. Is that right, or is that just the known ones? Seems like a pretty high attrition rate.

Actually it's a little over 60 and the mahogany dash is a '65 or '66 piece, it's missing one cut next to the ashtray, so a later style (less pieces). Send me a pm (or ask Maxted Page) if you want to know the asking price (Lee asked me not to communicate it on websites). Nice car imo.
