    Value question

Looking for some consensus on what a running 3.0 CIS SC motor is worth with 2 known broken head studs (#3 and 4 exhaust). Assume good compression and the motor was verified to be running well on a 15-minute test drive and showing good oil pressure but mileage and history unknown.

So what's it worth as a complete engine including stock exhaust and muffler??

So basically it needs a top-end rebuild, that's about a 15 grand job. Core 3.0 engine $6,500 to someone who plans to build the motor of their dreams.

About 4 years ago I bought a '87 3.2 running motor with everything included, including exhaust for $5,500 shipped to me nicely crated as a reference point. I know prices have gone up to the point that motor would likely be $10K if I bought it today. Given that, and the popularity of the 3.0 motor, I would say $6,500 is a really good price. If you check with Mepstein on 914world.com he works at a Porsche shop that regularly has 3.0, 3.2 motors for sale. He is an honest guy and has never done anyone wrong. Here is the last 3.0 he posted for sale for example: http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=342077
