    FS: @Gooding - 1966 911

I car I am familiar with, not mine, will be offered next month at Goodings Amelia Island. A 1966 911 Irish Green/Tan leatherette, 42k miles. For someone looking for an original early car this is a fantastic opportunity. The archival value alone is priceless. Drives and smells as good as it looks. I understand it will be sold with no reserve so someone will get a wonderful car. Good luck.

    Auction Description:

    - Very Well-Preserved Example
    - Retains Its Original Engine per Porsche Kardex
    - Finished in Original and Desirable Irish Green over Tan
    - Accompanied by Books, Tools, Keys, Jack, and Spare Tire
    - Among the Finest Examples of an Original Short-Wheelbase 911

According to a copy of its original Kardex, this amazing 1966 Porsche 911 was finished in desirable Irish Green over a tan leatherette interior and equipped with a Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio with antenna and loudspeaker. Its first owner was Hugh S. Havens of Homer, New York, and it was later owned by attorney Craig Benson of Nashville, Tennessee, who sold it to Tommy Trabue circa 1996.

Registering 43,815 miles on its odometer at the time of cataloguing, this 911 retains its original engine, interior, and according to the consignor, the vast majority of its factory-applied paint. It presents extremely well throughout, showing signs of astute care and stewardship. Infrequently and carefully used, this stunningly preserved 911 has nonetheless been well taken care of throughout the years as evidenced by a file of maintenance receipts that accompany the sale. Supplied with its books, tools, jack, and spare tire, this early and exceptionally original Porsche 911 would make a worthy addition to any collection.

Seriously, this car is worth your bids. Seller is already suffering remorse, but he is a gentleman and will honor his commitment to Gooding. If there is a better example of a wood dash car, I would like to document it.

Covid-19 and the stock market crash probably held this one back to $185k. Great buy.

It surpassed the high estimate so it seems like a win to me, but agree that Covid-19 and the 'crash' could not have happened at a worse time for those putting their cars through the Amelia Island auctions.

It sure took much work by the auctioneer and a good amount of time to arrive at the final price. It stalled in the 80s for a while.

Gooding will not let you set a reserve for a car they value under $200k. Sucks for this community. You commit months in advance and there is no plan "B" for an economic meltdown.
