Stock Passenger seat dips and leans

For the life of me, I can’t figure out why this seat back is leaning to the left. The splines are in great condition FWIW. I twist them and still it leans. Also, the replacement screws from Stoddard have stripped the threads.

Does anyone have experience with this?

Are the recliner hinges at the same angle before you mounted the seatbacks? It looks like the seatback frame is bent/twisted from many entrances and exits using the seatback for support. If so that should be the driver side seatback from the way it is twisted. Did you swap seatbacks? Take the back off and lay it on a flat surface and you will see which way to proceed. You may have some success with further spline adjustment. I've seen twisted seatbacks from my earliest 356 days including speedster seats; one piece shell.

Ahhh. As I twist and load the spring, the hinge does move out eventually. I guess I load the spring just enough to not have the hinge move out?

Also, I think I did not place the seat belt holders correctly. Does anyone have pics of both sides mounted?

Are your female splines aligned? Perhaps a prior reassembly didn't go correctly. Slip a female spline off the male splined rod and move it one way or the other so that the edges of the hinges are parallel with each other.

my seat was like this. So this may be a reason.

take off the seat back from the chrome sides...if it does not lay flat on the ground, then the tubular metal frame underneath the vinyl and padding is bent. (you will see what flat means)

my was not only bent...but I had to re-weld some of the metal frame.

First things first. I needed to mount the seat belt brackets in where they belong between the rail and the seat. I still have a noticeable passenger side lean but the brackets keeps the seat back from dipping.
