    VIN Sticker Question

Well, I am back after an 8-year absence with stops of a GT3 and 930 Turbo. I recently took delivery of a Light Yellow (orig color) 1972 Euro 911T and plan to lighten it to sub-2,000 lb levels and boost the engine to 200+ hp with the original 2.4 case.

As I am going through the car, I wanted to get a few details correct. Since this is a Euro car, would it have the door jamb VIN sticker and plate on the A-pillar?

I believe the door jamb vin stickers came in ‘74, at least in the US. Not sure on ROW cars. The A pillar vin plate in ‘69. I’m sure others will chime in here too.

The door jamb sticker was not a VIN sticker officially, but a US Federal compliance sticker. While they were present in '72 for US cars, I do not believe RoW cars had them back then. Same for the windshield pillar VIN plate - US-only.

    Or so I believe...

Substitute North America for USA, and you would be correct. Some of the items may have been calendar year related, but I know the compliance decal was a model year item. In 1969 the decal was small and on the hinge post. For 1970 it was on the latch post, and had the punched out date and VIN.

Thank you for all the great feedback. It is great to be back on this board and in an early car. I can’t wait to drive it again in May when the snow melts.
