    Heater control levers are stiff

    Hi,
My car was in pretty poor shape and the levers on the heater control unit didn't move previously. I cleaned the unit and it has been replaced in the car (now fully restored) but I am finding that the levers are quite stiff to move particularly the top one controlling the fan speed. Should this be so and if not, what lubrication can be applied? I remember there was a contact that slid across the top of the plate which housed the fan speed contacts. Maybe when I cleaned off the dirt I also removed lubricant?
    Thanks

more than likely dry or damaged inner cables trying to slide within the outer cable. try to squirt lube in from the exposed ends and work cable its full travel,,,,might improve it. It won't be from sliding contact.

The levers are connected to cables that effect the movement of blender doors (flaps) associated with the fresh air inlet box. This is located in the front trunk behind the cardboard bulkhead liner. You can disconnect the cables from the blender doors to see where the resistance lies.

I had the same problem. The eventual cure was to replace the cables...not easy, but certainly doable if you have basis skills.
