Rubber hood and engine lid latches

Looking for another winter project and I am hoping to get some advice. I have searched this and other forums as well as YouTube and surprisingly haven’t found much info.

I am looking to remove hood and engine latches, associated hardware and internal wires and tubing to lighten my car. I want to replace with lightweight rubber latches.

Any recommendations on latches? Hood latch looks different (longer) than the engine lid latches.

Any recommendations on removal of hardware and internal wiring and tubing?

Any recommendations on installation of the rubber latches so not to screw up the paint?

Are there any videos out there that show the removal of the cable and tubing that attach the hood release handle Inside the car to the latch mechanism?

I am not sure if I am over-complicating this but didn’t want to start tearing into something without understanding exactly what needed to be removed and from where.

The cables (wires really) just pull straight out by the knobs once everything is disconnected at the latches. Or they did on my '72, so I'm guessing other years are similar. Removing the tubing would be a lot more work, for very little weight savings.
