So happy to have my 73 911 Hotrod running again!

Hi guys, I've been a member here since 2002 but I haven't been around for years. I am the grateful owner of a 73 911 hotrod (911R, RS, and RSR elements with Carbon body panels, 2.7RS+ MFI, etc.).

Some of you may remember the car from an old Excellence article called "Carbon Copy" in 2003.

Unfortunately, I snapped at crankshaft at the track many years ago (4k miles after an expensive engine rebuild at a well known shop in CA and was too gutted to jump into another engine build at that time).

So, the car had been stored in my garage for quite a few years before I found a local trusted resource to dive into an engine build again. To ensure a little more chance for longevity, I replaced the Mag case with a new (used) one from an unmodified street car, had all the updates done at Ollie's like shuffle-pinning, oil mods, clearance for 964 pump, line boring, etc. Then replaced the broken crank with a new custom crank and matching rods from Pauter (oversized bearings to use NASCAR ones), and many other things to get it back on the road.

I've been driving new GT Porsches in the interim (981 GT4 and then traded to 991.2 GT3 Manual), in order to do Euro Deliveries and many days at the Nurburgring and Spa (bucket list items that I highly recommend).

As fun and capable as those cars are, they are not substitutes for the early cars (I know I'm preaching to the choir here).

Here are a few pics (old and new from this morning at Red Rocks):
