I understand, Advance Auto Parts, has a conventional lead acid battery, size T-4 that fits well. Rob

I have been looking at AGM Miata batteries... What CCA does the old 911 really need?

I have an oversize Optima that works... I will never have a lead acid battery in my car again!

I have a pair of Miata batteries in my '72T. They work perfectly, can go weeks and weeks without the tender on them (I forget sometimes) and still crank great.

They don't fit perfectly, you will need to build some blocks or shims to hold them in place. And they are a slight touch taller, so you will need to carefully insulate the positive terminals.

I consider it fortunate. That thing is ugly.
