Bulbs with P45t and P43t bases are not interchangeable.

    P43t Base

A disadvantage the P45t bulbs have is that they are not as actively being developed with advanced technology as the P43t bulbs.

Both available at the AC Shop.

I was referring to the socket betwixt the reflector & the bulb. The more modern p43t onto a reflector originally with the p45t. Thanks , cliff

Ok, perhaps most importantly, do they mount the same bad way the H4s mount? I put H4s on my 73 which originally had the sugar scoops. Those sugar scoops screwed in good and tight. As discussed elsewhere, the H4 is challenging to use the one screw at the bottom and still get a secure attachment on the top clip. I in fact lost one once. So are any of these better mounting?

Most of the early air-cooled Porsches used headlights that mount like the H4's. And it is indeed funky, not Porsches best moment. I think the theory is for the trim ring to more or less clamp over the ring on the fender but I don't think I've ever seen that done successfully. Which means it's secured by the puny protrusion at the top and the screw at the bottom. I lost an H1 off a 1972 911S once. When I retraced my steps I found it next to a stop sign where some kind person had placed it - not the slightest hint of damage.

Some folks use a tether to secure the headlight should it come loose. But in 30 years I've only lost the one.
