    Help with Drain Plug Position

I have removed the oil filter screen and sump plate.
Before reinstalling I noted that my drain plug faced towards the engine end and between the case split line.
Looking on my factory manual this is the right position but I see a lot of cars with the drain plug facing on the left side?

I'm wondering why so many engine has the drain plug on the left and not in middle ... are there any advantage in installing the oil cover with the drain plug sitting in the opposite side of the oil pickup tube?

Orientation of drain plug is a subtle statement about your political leanings and beliefs; left, right, or middle of the road.

If you use the the Venturi sump screen instead of the original type, there’s an indentation on the side that you should line up your drain plug with.

I believe that usually means you have upgraded your oil pump.

Glad to have posted a question that made you laugh.

So can I conclude that there are no differences (political leanings and beliefs apart)?

Every manual I've seen places the drain plug opposite the pickup tube, which I believe then places the plug on the left
