Very brief review online. Gets 5 stars. Interesting to read they’ve focussed on lightness even removing some technology in that goal.

Haven’t read the full article in the magazine. In an era when speed limits are widespread often enforced by cameras and with this car said pointedly has been developed for the road not the track its an interesting comment among an abridged review to wonder if the driver would be having more fun in a Lotus Elise or Peugeot 106 in narrow roads.

"would be having more fun in a ......"(or early 911). Other than having all the trick bits , and physic income from them ,can 95% of the 1936 owners get any more use over a 992 or 992T?
Maybe another trophy for the garage .
I think that these types of next great, store bought, limited editions are in response to enthusiats embrace of the hot rod/moded culture

I wasn't hating on them, just making a joke about weight. I know the modern 911s are great cars. I had one.

Personally, I am not a fan of $300K, made-up-scarcity models that require "allocations" (nor the $10K "lightweight" packages that save 80 lbs on a 3,600 lb. car). And with 25 variants of the 911 on sale now, it's starting to feel like they are just milking it. Let's hope they don't go as far as what BMW has done with the "M" brand.


Totally support anyone who likes those or wants that kind of thing -- to each his or her own.

What Torch said. A guy was at our local cars/coffee with a newish speedster painted with fender spears, gumballs and numbers. Unfortunately it was parked next to an original '58 speedster. The newer one looked like a botoxed mistake. Kind of an old movie star fighting the clock in a losing battle. The heavily marketed special, limited production cars are just a curiosity to me. No more or less.

I was also thinking of the weight, but now you mention it, I think the new cars are too big/wide/complex electronically and don't do it for me. Haven't driven but why would I want too.
The 996.1 gt3 is about the limit for me modern ownership wise, although the latest gt4 rs makes me smile. (I'd like to have a drive in that).
