It was built in 1966. Methinks there is some relevance for the change.
sorry,
in this thread we do span the time period of 1963 - aka the protos - and the 0 series built cars up to VIN 250 - 7th January 1965.
the change of the lid opener was done in the period up to 19th of January, as 292 already had the „regular“ opener!
your car is not of any interest for this topic!
nevertheless, enjoy

They way I read the OP was they were looking for a date range for "push to pull" versus knob. Presumably prototypes and early cars were push to pull. All I was providing was a definitive date for in cab. To be blunt all I was doing was limiting the data set needed.
thank you for your intend in narrowing down the possible time of change.
we all appreciate this…
just to sum it up again:
prototypes had a pull knob in the door jamb
0 series cars up to 250 had the push „monkey-motion-mechanism“ inside
292 had the regular small pull knob at the dashboard
built dates are provided above..
enjoy further

This is great, thank you all for your answers.
I have also found a picture of the unrestored system coming from #98 :
With the sum up made by Haul just above, the remaining questions would be :
Did Porsche come back to to the knob in the door jamb between #250 and #292, as stated by Bret Johnson in his book
Are we able to reduce the window between #250 and #292
Looking back at the few pictures I have, I can see that all cars that have the knob on the door jamb, except for prototypes, also have the hole for the monkey motion, like #61 posted by Moito or the picture in Brett Johnson's book. I'm starting to think that this could be a modification made afterwards because of failing system and that Porsche never delivered a car with the knob in the door jamb.
I think I've got the answer.
Looking at the PET, the parts of the monkey motion aren't visible on the illustration but they are in the listing and for cars up to 300254. Starting at #300255 is the classic system on the dash.
#300255 was build on Jan 11 1965, so I think we can say this was the switch date from monkey motion to knob on the dash, and that no production 911 left the factory with the knob in the door jamb.
