Thread: VHT high temp paint

  1. #21
I posted on this subject last September - https://www.early911sregistry.org/fo...ight=thurmalox

I ended up using Thurmalox, the same paint used by Willhoit. It is easy to touch up and so far so good. It is a little darker than what most of us think the color should be, although I have seen original mufflers that had a similar darker tone.

A lot of choices to try. I don’t think that is to dark on the muffler.

I went with the Thurmalox 271-03.Aluminum gray. Seems to be a shade lighter than prs356 picture. The end product I ended up with is a shade darker than my pictures which show on the light side. Can didn’t plug, but was spitting some globs like the rattle cans do.

For a Solex car the muffler would have been silver. Muffler straps should be painted also
