how are 68 frames different than what would have been on a 65?

Anodized aluminum started in ‘68, rather than the prior chromed brass. That’s the main difference. In the earlier frames, there’s minor manufacturing details from year to year.

A few differenced and as 70SATMan stated the main difference is the aluminum bright dip frame.

    1. integrated the the rain/wind deflector into the frame

    2. added chrome steel mount to the vent window support

    3. shortened the front frame mount

    4. 2 screws now used for the top vent frame separated bar

    5. changed the vent window latch to non-locking with rubberized cover on the lever (early frames may still have the 1965-65 type vent latch lever with lock button)
