Bowden ventilation cable replacement

I have been able to locate a replacement cable for my 67S. Can anyone suggest an instruction guide to install the cable.

I can probably snap some photos from inside the trunk of my '65 but I'll be busy till the Lit Meet Saturday.

Exactly what replacement part did you get? Do you still have the operating handle under the speedometer?

Well, I crawled into my 911's trunk with my iPhone. I fear I wasn't able to capture the real money shot.

Here's the attachment to the control lever. The forum software turned this upside down. Of course this is the obvious part of the procedure:

Now, looking up at the flapper (with the fiberglass drain sump removed). I really should have opened the vent. Maybe I can try that soon:

Far right side--I think that black drum's the windshield wiper motor:

The point where the round thing on the cable attaches to the flap is conspicuously missing. Maybe pulling the dashboard would help--it's not all that hard on a short-wheelbase car.

Or, there are fasteners at either end. Removing them should let you get at the flap--you should probably soak them in PB Blast or Kroil, etc. before attempting to remove them. Here's the picture from the parts catalog although it doesn't shed much light on the problem.



Worst case: if you remove the windshield wiper mechanism (which I found incredibly difficult to remove and replace) everything else should be easy. At least it will seem easy compared to removing and replacing the wiper mechanism.
