    Leather steering wheel cover

Does anyone know of an upholsterer/trimmer who can duplicate the original smooth leather cover as done on oem steering wheels? All I have seen is incorrectly textured recovered wheels. The work on some is terrific but the leather is off.

    Steve,
Try to find some independent leather craft stores. I noticed the same as you that the standard offerings of automotive leathers just weren’t quite right. I finally found a couple of half hides through a local source that better matched the weight, grain and color of the original leathers. Have them tucked away for when I start a couple of wheel projects in mind.

Being able to look in person is incomparable IMO.

Dallas custom does a great job but I’ve never seen anyone that does it identical to oem. The factory stitching is very tight and the leather unique. I’ve heard it was put on wet but just a rumor.

I have had several done to factory spec and finish. My old coworker from Singer Vehicle Design (does all their leather everything) works on all my side work. He has done a few 67S leather wheels and a few LWB wheels. I was in charge of quality at Singer for 4 years and my OCD for correct work is top!

If you want exact stitching, feel, and look then reach out. I'm in Los Angeles. thx.
