    1970 911T - What Comfort Seats Do I Have?

I believe the comfort seats that came with my 1970 911T are not original. I'm under the impression that in 1970, the standard comfort seat was leatherette with a basket weave insert. Any ideas on what year mine might be from? They don't have the basket weave insert and I'm contemplating trying to find original seats for the car.

From what I see, those are 1970 seats, could be 71.
Tho, leather did come with basket weave. I think they had non patterned leather too.
1971 has two screws on the chrome and some have a whale tail or dolphin tail, others had the shark fin lever.

They could be 71 seats, but I don’t know of any difference between 1970 and 1971.
They are most likely orig 1970 and original to your car.

I doubt few know what date when parts could have changed from 70 to 71. Even early 1971 seats had slight changes from sept70 and then after dec1971.
I would think the same goes for 70 cars.

To me leather is a big deal.
They look in very good shape, and very proper for 70&71.

The seat belt parts are proper 71 too, and most likely proper for 70.

70 seats would have had the rectangular release in the face of the vertical hinge IIRC, not the shark fin on the top of the hinge. I think those are 71 seats if the hinges are chrome. 72/73 if the hinges are the black splatter finish.

I think you're right. The hinges are chrome and I do have the shark fin for the release. Without a COA it's hard to know for sure. They're in good shape, but probably not correct.

    Thanks,

Thanks. So you think these are leather and not leatherette? Did leatherette come in plain or only with a basketweave insert? Just asking because someone on Pelican said these looked like their leatherette seats from '71 or '72. Honestly having a hard time telling if these are leather or leatherette by the texture (not having seen leatherette in person).

The Kardex I have from David Pateman shows the car came with leatherette with black & white pepita inserts, which are unobtainium. Since the car has strayed a bit from its originality anyway, I may just run these seats since they're in decent shape.

Yours look like leather to me. My car is a 72 model car with leatherette for comparison.

Judging from the pics, I think they are leather and in excellent shape.

well, a smell test would do the job to find out about leather or not...
Leatherette was also available in plain..
Pepita fabric is widely available, in all colors, not the original used 650gr /m2, but some lighter material, which will do the job, too-..
