repair service for ether based temp gauges

    dear all,

we all do know the issues with the non working exteriour temperature gauge.
The feeler has mostly been cut and the repair, which I describes over here - https://www.early911sregistry.org/fo...perature+gauge - is quite difficult to obtain from the usual suspects.

I do offer for some time for friends and fellow ESR members the service to hand over the standard gauges to my experianced VDO workshop here in Augsburg. The gauges get properly serviced, in the case of: repaired, cleaned, with new inner and outer rings, glas cleaned or replaced, the hands touched up, if necessary.

I am happy to have now gotten back two temperature gauges, both in perfect working condition, with new capillar tubes and filled with ether and thus ready to be mounted on a bracket in the left wheel arch.

So whenever you feel to, you are free to send me your non working temp gauge and I will forward this for you to the VDO workshop.

Please PM me for further details..

Depending on work the max. price should be at 250.- € plus tax (09.2021), plus shipping, but I do think it is worth every penny to have a working and perfectly looking gauge in the dashboard.

Update on the price per January 24:
Pricing has risen to 326.-€ plus 19% tax plus shipment.

btw: these two gauges are up for sale ..

    enjoy
    stay safe & healthy

    with best regards

    @all,

in the last years i had about 20 units of the legendary outside temperature gauges done by that very expert, refilling the capillary tube with ether and adding a new probe in the front.
i received a call yesterday late afternoon, that the workshop, doing these, will be closed, as the owner wants to retire…..

so, one more technique will be lost…—-

I will look for alternative solutions, maybe i can persuade him to step back from retirement, but up to this, I can only recommend to have this gauge converted to electric ….-
this message came the same day my 914 mechanic told me he will retire by july…..-

    best regards from bavaria

This is sad news. A lot of the old timers are timing out. (Retiring) is the VDO shop closing immediately?
