Anybody know how many of the 68 911L interiors were Elephant Hide? Does anybody still produce it?

No and no. There are no good substitutes that match the texture and sheen of the original.

No. I am trying to put headrests on my early 911L that has elephant hide seats. I understand that cars delivered before 1/1/68 did not have provisions for headrests in the seat frame. I have not seen a post 1/1/68 911L with elephant hide seats and headrests. Do they look like the bolster type of the 356? Are they integral to the seatback like the 69?
    Any help is appreciated.

Only the seat is in elephant hide. My car from 10/1967 has been delivered without headrests. They have been put after.

My Car has the seat and back in Elephant hide. What did you use for your headrest, a 356 or some other. can you send a picture of the seat? My car is also 10/67. I am curious how the headrest is attached. Maybe that is why your seat differs from the back, to accommodate the headrest? I have not heard of the seat upholstery differing from the seat back, but I am still learning also. Thanks

Thank you. The headrests look really good. My seats do not have the provision to accept the rods connected to the headrests and I don't want to tear them apart. I will try to find some 356 headrests and rig up some connection. Thanks.
