    early dash top colors

In his guide book on authenticity, Dr. Johnson indicates that all dash tops were black from 1965 at least up through 1968. Is this absolutely true in all cases, no matter the color of the rest of the interior? Thanks in advance for your answer.

I actually think that other dash colors weren’t available till ‘76. I have seen ‘76 dashes in other than black but, don’t recall seeing them prior to that.

you surely could order a PTS dashtop to be covered in whatever color your taste has been,
but yes, all dashtops had been black due to the lower reflection of light, thus less
distraction for the driver…likewise the wiper arms never had been chromed or silver gloss…
