    Arm rests...

    I was perusing the Wheeler's website about their sportomatic and noticed this picture:

    these are the same armrests that I have on my car, they were installed in 1989 by the original owner.

    what are they from? they've got no hinge/lid assembly for the pockets.

    Looks like the factory armrest to me. The pocket below is also factory. Standard equipment on all early 911 & 912 models beginning in 1969, ending in '73.

    Ok,

    So when did they switch to the lid'ed type?

    I was looking through another 911 book (911 buyers guide by leffingwell) and noticed that all of the 69+ cars had hinged arm rests)

    That would be in 1974, when 911s started to get ugly...
