One of the more interesting and pervasive myths in Porschedom. No idea how it was started but it is repeated everywhere

This thread I created shows that in 69S Targa production alone, almost 1 out of every 20 built was a SWT.... Still rare, but nothing close to the mythical number of 12.

that to me would indicate there was an official option code for a soft window, at least in 1969? I had never seen this before and could not find 9356 in any literature so far . . .

Yes, 9356 was an official option for US markets. It could be ordered only in combination with option 9282.

9356 folding soft rear window for Targa (only together with 9282)
    Available for 911 T E S, a no cost option

9282 luggage platform instead of standard rear seats, Targa, (mandatory with 9356)

1969 basic order numbers and accessories list, february 1969, US importer & dealer sheet.

    Hm . . .

. . . and/yet, the Targa above has no 'option 9282' on its Kardex --- even though it was delivered to Volkswagen Pacific, Inc?

If Karim is correct, the soft window option for a 69 Targa included the luggage platform, so the platform wouldn't be listed separately as an option.

I have seen all the kardexes for the official 69 SWT cars.

Very few if any have 9282 called out from what I recall
