Thanks for all the help guys. I needed it.
That square weave sure does look good.
I'm thinking I'd like to go for it. What the x, its my car.
Albert blue with tan (cork) trim and seats and tan square weave carpet. Hows that sound?
    Or maybe the oatmeal above?

My personal opinion is that the squareweave looks best in a somewhat more spartan interior than an early '70s 911's.

The squareweave has a sort of simplistic elagance to it, but you can see the backing between the loops of wool yarn. It looks good in a 356 with the rubber mats and metal dash, but I think the 911 calls for a richer look.

In a 911 I would go with a high end velour, either an original German or some of the good British wool carpets.

FWIW, her's a pic showing some of the original tan interior '72 911S carpet...covered up with '70's charcoal coco mats, but you should be able to see enough to get an idea...

looks very nice thanks. I still have not decided or ordered the carpet.
I'm now looking at two suppliers for both the seat covers and the carpet.
World Upholstry & Original Fit Interiors.
Any comments or preferences on these firms?

Auto's Intl. and nobody else in my opinion!!!! (at least in the US).

For a better assortment of colors of square weave, you can go to Southbound in the UK, they have some great colors.

Note that not all square weave is made the same.......I understand that there is only a few manufacturers using the original type of weaving method.

I did a very exhaustive search on square weave prior to recarpeting my 59 coupe.
