Thread: face level vent through the clock hole

  1. #11
Funny that you should mention that, Chris. Just yesterday I noticed the round vents on an older Mercedes, and I thought that would be a good possibility.

Does anyone have more information on the GRM project?

I think that they posted a pic to the Pelican board. I'll check and see if I can find it. Had a good pic as well. Is Per the guy working that project?

    AHA! Classic motorsports Page

Per has the restoration on the GRM 69E on the site and has this pic. I knew I'd seen it before!

Anyone know how to get Per to let us know what he used for that vent. That's exactly what I had in mind. Wonder if I can close it in the winter? Hmmm

BTW Jack - not sure my interior classifies as 'restored'. Most of it is original, but pretty good shape. New carpets, but door panels are original, slightly scuffed here and there but generally pretty good. Most relevant is that my clock doesn't seem to work, and I had the AC removed, hence some interest in a Mercedes vent (probably designed by Porsche Consulting anyway

I had thought about using the vent that blows air to the feet (look under the dashboard). Could do that in conjunction with the SmartRacing setup?

    vent

That vent was from a mid-seventies Mercedes sedan...It didn't fit exactly right, which meant that it can't rotate, but I fixed it in place pointed towards my face. The knob in the center can open/close. I have so much wind leakage through the trunk area that it actually blows pretty damn hard at speed. Can't imagine how strong the gusts would be if I hooked it up to an actual vent!
