Yes it was originally black special order delivered with airport gears. According to Ed, who worked on it when new it topped out at 120 in 5th gear at 7300. The 2.8 is built on the #'s matching S case.

Great find Bob. Thrilled to hear Ed was able to do CPR on that period-built 2.8! You've got my 2.5 beat by 2 years for longevity. Not many hotrodded motors built in the 70s are still going strong today. It's funny how people go to great lengths to preserve paint, seats, interiors, etc., but won't hesitate to tear apart an original (or period-built) engine just because a new rebuild might run a bit faster, maybe leak or burn a bit less oil or whatever. I've always been curious to learn how many hotrodded 70s-built engines are still in use.

*And I'd leave the CDI box - that's one of the 'good' Permatunes and very much a period-correct hotrod piece. Mine's still good after 36 years.

Just signed the papers for a purchase. Really excited about 1967S. Will require a lot of sorting when/if I decide to take it back to stock. The car comes with a three page list of original components that the seller, a vintage race driver, set aside. I'm thinking of racing it for a while then taking it back to street. Original engine and all body panels, NON matching gearbox. Original color was Bahama Yellow. Two owner car.

Congratulations. It appears you have a car in very nice shape that also appears to be dry. Is there any rust?
Great foresight by the Prior Owner to save all of the original parts because many of them are difficult to source. You do see she Blaupunkt Koln radios for sale with 1967 date code from time to time. Keep your eye on the Parts for Sale section. Good Luck.
