Sammy I saw the picture of your car where you state it's a 1968 model that was purchased on 8/67 in Frankfurt..but was registered as a 67 for US smog restrictions. So what you have is an early 1968 European 911S, in 68 the S was not imported in to the US. . Hmmmm....so back to your rubber bumper pads no wonder they were a stock item...for 1968 that is....also being European it wouldn't have had the funky side reflectors that US 68's had.... I knew I smelled fish....with regards to those pads....

Now does your car have black faced instruments in the dash or the Green lettered ones of the pre 68 cars.

Sammy no matter how you cut it your have an outstanding car, and knowing you you didn't cut any corners..too bad I don't live over there anymore, as I could see it flashing by once in a while. I would sit there wondering what the he11 was that....

Ted, if you go back to that post you will see that's not me or my car, that is SWBS who also has a very clean SWB polo red car.

if I remember correctly what I said in an earlier post about my car was that my car was purchased new by the original owner when he was stationed in Germany, and he picked it up at the factory, but it was an American export version like the cars that people flew over to pick up and drive around Europe then ship back, it is definitely not a 68 version ( not that there's anything wrong with 68's) green gauges no steering column lock and it does have emergence flashers which the euro venison didn't come with also front bumper over riders which were standard on US models and definitely thick front and rear S style rubber covered bumpers.
