Thread: Found some cool period window decals

  1. #11
Found another. This one was on a beutifuly restored 356 at the East Coast Holiday at Biltmore last year. This guy even had a period correct German map and matchbooks in the glovebox. I really like the sense of humor the late 50s and early 60s Porsche posters, ads and printed pieces show.

OK, not a sticker ....but, a vintage brass dash plaque I picked up in Sebring. Also, the "Gulf Racing" sticker is from 'back in the day' and donated to me by a fellow R-Gruppe member!

I always thought this sticker would be a good candidate for reproduction .... at least for us small displacement guys.

    Gulf Stickers

I found a vendor at the Historics last week that had a few of the Gulf Racing decals shown above. I bought three at $5 each. After seeing I'm not the only decal nut, I decided the two extras I was planning on putting away should probably be on a deserving car. So - hopefully to two someone as that 'final touch' - PM me and you can have them for the same $5.

They are inside mount decals, about 2x3 inches with a nice patina to the white background. Will look like it's been in your vent window for 25 years.

    Some more -

An oldie from Petersen (as in Car Craft, Hot Rod, Petersen Museum - note viking helmet logo) There was a whole division?

    Kremer windshield banner

Old water transfer parts decal - not sure if this factory or not

Stylized Brumos livery, do they nail their designs or what?

And something that used to happen at Sebring a lot...........

John, like the ticket. Old race tickets are another cool item, maybe we should start another thread for those?

Nice decals. I was thinking about replicating the one used on the ME-163 that showed Baron von Munchhausen riding a cannon ball out of a 18th century cannon with the caption "Wie ein Floh, aber A Ho!!" "Like a flea but a ho!"

Period Correct Stickers, Decals and Badges

I have an addiction to period correct Porsche and racing stickers, and I doubt I'm alone in this.

Over time, I've collected some decals, stickers and badges that interest me. It's a fun hobby and relatively low cost. The discussion around the recent 1968 Porsche Monte Carlo Rallye sticker starting me wondering if some of our Early 911S Registry members have decals or stickers that are one-of-a-kind.

Anyway, to get the ball rolling here, here are a few from the late 1960s and early 1970s. Please submit your own stickers, decals and badges to this thread to share information about this slice of history.

    Best Regards,
    Andy
