Thread: Brumos/Haywood early 911 from Daytona

  1. #1

Thumbs up Brumos/Haywood early 911 from Daytona

I thought I'd post some picks of one of my favorite cars from Rennsport Reunion. Yeah, I know it was a while back, but just came across them and thought others may be interested. I just wish I had taken an overall shot of the car instead of only the details. Maybe someone else may have one to add? At the time I was not sure what the history of the car was but really liked the set up and combination of intersting parts. I emailed Brumos to ask and below is the reply I got:

    Tom,
Thanks for the inquiry. The vehicle in question is the 1970 911 that Hurley
won the 1972 IMSA Championship with. It was recently restored and Daytona
Rennsport was it's first time since restoration to have some track time. It
did run 2 parade laps at VIR last September. I hope this answers your
    question.
    Best regards,

Hey Tom - yeah, that was one of my favorites as well. Here's a few photos I took outside the garage:

That's the "high butterfly" MFI? I like it. I seem to like everything that probably costs a small fortune.

Here is another high butterfly system from a 73 Carrera 2.8 RSR at Classic Le Mans this year. What a georgeous sound an unsilenced race motor makes!
