    Al Reed says.........

"Don't take less than $600 a piece for deep sixes."

I was talking to him about my new collection (6) of 15 x 7 Fuchs when the subject came up of what to do with the 6's. He was NOT clear about whether this was for an original, unmolested rim, or one that was redone by himself or others of the same quality. I think he meant any in excellent condition.

I couldn't raise a soul at $400 ea. (polished with polished and hand painted caps). This is not a solicitation to sell as I'm not currently offering them.

But, really, what do you think?

I've been buying them at $250 to $255 ea. I've got 12 of them right now. Course they all need refinshing. Still, when you figure the cost to refinish that still doesn't add up. Sounds like he's thinking of upping his prices. There are people selling newly refinished for $300 so they are obviously finding them cheaper than I am. I only like to get the ones that still have the original anodized finish on em so I can see what they need. On the refinished ones there is no telling how much material had to come off to get rid of that "One minor curb rash".

    Maybe he's thinking of 4.5s?

Funny, a couple years ago you could have had them for $150 each. Not any more. I imagine that as the desirability of the early cars continue to rise, so will the desire for the wheels.

Hope you hung on to those seats! I guess I`ll just hang on to these deep-6 wheels for another 20+ years.

Long gone just like a lot of stuff that's gold these days. MFI systems? Heck, we pulled 'em off and installed Webers from PMO (that was SOP). Now see what's happening. The irony of it is that there were actually MORE people around who could work on the MFI then than now. Life is funny that way.
