    Autofest disaster

As a rule, I don't like cross-posting stuff from Pelican Parts' BBS, but Wayne took photos of the carnage that happened when European Collectibles transporter bottomed out on the railroad tracks and was struck by a train. No one hurt, as far as Wayne knows, but there were three Speedsters onboard (as well as at least two other 356's, it looks like).

    A real tragedy.

I'm not saying this to be argumentative. The cars were transported en masse for convenience, AFIK. They were for sale from a restorer/dealer. They were not necessarily "trailer queens." Two of them had been acquired at the show and were on their way back to the shop.

Regardless, even if they had been rusted hulks, this is a travesty.

It appears like a couple of them are salvagable, but that poor black one....geez louise. Every time I look at those pics it gives me the same queezie feeling those Iraqi beheadings gave me. Probably not a good thing when your feelings for cars rival those of humans...darrrrrrrrrrr!

As I said on the PP board, 'they are still making humans'. Insensitive maybe, but either way, a truly sad day.
