I write about vintage Porsche dealership license plate frames in the current issue of 000 Magazine. A topic most folks here can relate to which revealed some really fascinating information.
I was so very fortunate to have several friends willing to lend me their frame collections so I could photograph them...after it was completed I had photos of almost 100 vintage plate frames. The package would have been minuscule if not for their contributions. Huge thanks to Rick Kreiskott, Don Ahearn, Jerry Murray and David Conklin... Please consider subscribing to 000 Magazine. It really is something great. Thanks guys.

Bright yellow lettering in lighter-med blue 'phonographed' letter-boxes, all semi-matte, flash-chromed, w/rather-intricate checker-flag motifs in the lower corners, but no Makers' marks/ID; std CA pass plate w/exp sticker

Later version (presumably). Lesser quality, maybe? --- IMO . . . but colorful

Patience (years), persistence and $ finally paid off. One of Art Bunkers long time mechanics passed away recently and this was found in the cleaning out of his home garage. NOS, from the Ď70ís Iím assuming. One of the Crown Jewels in my small collection.

    Dunbar-Faist . . .

    . . . from the '72 PDL . . .

    Dunbar-Faist Porsche Audi, Inc
    Route 59
    Spring Valley, NY

    Un-painted lettering in matte grey-blue letter-boxes, flash-chromed, no Makers' marks/ID; plate = '73 NY Congressional delegation

One-year-only dealership --- w/ a non-specific address . . . so who knows what this was about. Spring Valley is a small town, even today, and has a number of car stores --- BMW, Ferrari/Maseratti . . .

    . . . just not Porsche

Dull white lettering in sun-burned red + surprisingly/intricately-detailed letter-boxes, flash-chromed (+ very- nicely-mellowed, at that), no Makers' mark or ID; plate = std Ca pass w/yr-of-exp sticker

There are at least three versions of this Dealer's frame --- see above . . . w/the last version (IMO) in blue + checkerboards (like #636, above). Not exactly an un-common frame --- but 's been a real b!tch to get a hold of, and, I think . . . the most attractive
