Thread: Show Me Your Vintage P Dealer Plate Frames.

  1. #101
I found another ultra-rare Brian Redman Motors dealer frame, from a source in Florida. I plan to post it, and offer for sale on ebay by the end of the week....for those interested.

    Old porsche license frames

Has anyone ever seen license plate frames like these? They have no slot in back to slide the plate into like most, these must really be old. Back side is just flat!Attachment 202024Attachment 202025

I'd love to see (or have!) a frame from Truman Motors in El Cajon.
    Anyone here have that one?

    Gus Mozart . .

    426/024/1

Gus Mozart Volkswagen / Porsche + AUDI
    825 El Camino real
    Palo Alto, CA 94302

Listed as VW for ’69, P+A in '70 and ‘73

Flash chrome w/blue letters on dull white(?) back-round. Looks like greenish primer under where the lettering + back-round are rubbing off --- a bit more elaborately finished, maybe?

    (What a name)

That's great. My car was ordered from Gus Mozart, but with factory delivery never wore the dealer plates. Gus's son John was my rep, and I'll always remember him taking me for a ride in his silver '67 911S as part of the sales job, not that I needed it. The Mozart service manager, Rolf van Kempen, later became a great foundation in my short roster of genuine Porsche technicians and advocates, beginning with Herr Franck at Porsche in Vienna, Austria. Anybody every heard of the latter?

I bought a case of 40 of these from a bulk sale on Ebay about 6 years ago. They came packed 2 to an envelope and had never been opened or used. All NOS. Came in a case that had a Postal code stamp on from 1978 ???? , so I believe may have been made around then ?????? not totally sure.
They were from a supplier that made these for resale to Porsche dealers and apparently went out of business.

Sourced from Southern Cal. and I gave a whole bunch of them away to my friends in our local Porsche club. Kept two each for each of my cars and a couple extra for future purchases.

VERY well made with a high chrome finish......I was very pleased with that purchase and immediately looked for more on the internet, but have never seen any again.

Where did you get yours from ?
    Best Regards,

This one was really hard to find. My 1974 914 came from Kendon.

I ended up getting this frame from the UK. A guy picked up a VW bus and it was on it.

Kendon was on PCH in Wilmington near Torrance CA.

I don't know, Chuck . . . I was thinking that frame would go well with your jacket . . . . and look real good on your car.
