does anyone remember a NJ VW place called "Aircooled"? thought i remember a friend with a license plate surround from there

    My Inspiration

    '86 44 Turbo, black/red,7's and 8's fuchs, autothority - sold (rocketship)
'97 Boxster, first delivered in DC Metro, silver/red -sold (huge mistake to buy this one)
'99 C2, silver/black, RoW M030, limited lip, short shift - sold (good ride, but...)

    '69 912, 3.2 with all the trimmings
    (finally got air cooled)

    Victoria . . .

    From the '70 PDL . . .

    Victoria Volkswagen (. . . becoming Victoria Motors later . . .), Inc
    14284 7th Street
    Victorville, CA

Kinda crispy --- no surprise if you've ever been to Victorville (high desert --- basically, where the Mojave River occasionally crosses I-15) and they couldn't 've sold many Porsches --- but looks like dull white on dull red, flash-chromed, no makers marks/ID

Plate is early 6-place blue-plate, reg pass iss, w/ '70 reg tag . . . . haven't seen many tags with that 'C' prefix --- not sure what it means . . . maybe someone swapping a 'commercial' tag onto an otherwise clean front plate, passing it along?

    Eero . . .

    From the '70 PDL . . .

    Eero Volkswagen (Inc after '71?)
    201 Jordan Street
    Juneau, AK

One of only two Porsche dealers listed for Alaska. Looks like a dullish black back-round with flash-chromed letters + frame, no makers marks/ID, but nicely made/detailed. Where this thing's been? --- and how it got down here? . . . wow

Plate is standard AK pass iss --- but only briefly, from late '69 thru '70 . . . yellow back-round with coarsely reflectorized med blue lettering. Features the return of the slogan 'North to the Future' and adds 'U.S.A.' for the first time. Lowish sequence number

    Ricketts

    . . . from the Aug '68 PDL . . .

    422/111/1
    Ricketts Motors
    999 Long Beach Blvd
    Long Beach, CA

    The 'other' lesser-known Long Beach Dealer . . . . vs Circle --- the one everybody's heard of . . . sorta

Two pics. 1st is a picture of a picture, from another collection, and looks to me to be a 'restored' frame . . . funky lime + too-fresh chrome, found on a 356, w/a mid-'60s black plate and more-or-less-authentic for the vehicle. 2nd is an original/un-restored one I actually had in front of me . . . looks a lot more 'like it' . . . metallic blue back-round, flash-chromed. No pic of the back but I believe this was a proper/genuine RWB&Co

I think this'll end up being one of those frames I'm gonna regret not having bought. Prolly more correct for a 356 vs 911 --- Ricketts does not appear as a Porsche Dealer after '69 . . . nevertheless very seldom seen

    Chick Iverson

    From the '68 (and later) PDL . . .

    422/146/1
    Chick Iverson, Inc
    Newport at 22nd St
(445 East Coast Highway from '70)
    Newport Beach, CA

Iverson's outfit always had the same name --- never had the Porsche Audi stuff appended to his store. But his frames come in several varieties --- and also reproduced. These two --- a front & rear? --- were/are attached to 'barn-found' example, discovered locally (SoCal), ex-Roger Grago . . .

Last shot is of a re-pro, this one currently offered on The Samba . . .

With a name like that, the precursor to the Zipper franchise? -- also on Wilshire, also in BH (see post #80, above)

I haven't seen/handled this item, but it was described as a 'Robert W Brown Co DOWNEY CALIF (Style) NO-9'
