Hello, LongRanger. I know it's been a long long time since this thread was started but I found it while searching for information on the Encino, Ca Porsche/Audi dealership, Gabriel and Olsen. I see that you posted that you have ( had? ) an original license plate frame from the dealership and I am trying to locate one for my '70 that was sold new at that location. If somehow you still have this and would be interested in selling it please let me know. You can respond here or email at oldschooldave@mac.com. Many thanks!

    '. . . Central'

    From the '70 PDL . . .

    Porsche Audi Central*
    755 3rd Street
    Macon, GA 31208

Flash-chromed RWB&Co frame w/ semi-matte white lettering in bright metallic blue textured rockers; very unusual (+ unique) 'inverted' design features --- the delicate scribing appears in the upper (vs the usual lower) corners = first I've ever seen; std '70 yr-of-Exp GA pass car plate --- '3' = Chatham county, 'D' = pass car<3k lbs. Last year for County codes, yearly issues, + 'Peach State' stamped on these = tough plate to find/get

Property was a medical supply establishment, last; now 'available'

Hard to find Porsche stores in the Southeast. One-year-only dealer by this name; 'L.A. Smith VW, Inc' was at this address in '68, so . . .

    * Not to be confused with 'Central P A . . .'

Finally have a photo. Some have bottom holes, others have top holes. This has the bottom holes, maybe for the front? Was purchased in the 1970's from Stoddard.

I'm still looking for a Wood Imports / Wood Motors (Detroit) "Porsche" frame.....

By any chance, does anyone have a DeMaria Porsche-Audi frame they're willing to part with?

    Thx,

I recently unearthed this very cool 1956 Volkswagen owner’s manual with paperwork from Competition Motors, Hollywood, California. To stay on topic, I’m sure the paperwork locations are applicable for both Porsche & VW sales and service.

The owner’s manual is stamped with a 1730 No. Highland address but the warranty card is stamped with 1219 Vine Street address. The 1730 No. Highland address is also listed for Competition Motors in the accompanying VW distributors and dealers book. I believe the 1730 No. Highland address was for Porsche & VW service only. This distributor’s book also list another Competition Motors in Inglewood.

So do any of these beautiful Competition Motors manual sleeves exist with a Porsche logo? Additionally, are there any Competition Motors Hollywood license plate frames known to exist?

    Yes-yes --- interesting stuff . . . especially w/those dates

Competition Motors had several locations that I can figure out . . .
    https://www.early911sregistry.org/fo...l=1#post568392

What's been problematic is when these stores were active, and? --- as well as what they (+ their frames) looked like. I always thought that the Highland address was the oldest and had been superseded in the '50s . . . but your receipts would contradict that --- Nov '61

Anyway, here are some photos --- including one labeled 1952 . . . of the store that James Dean bought his cars from(?) Could this be the Highland store? That area has been totally re-developed, today --- multi-story office/retail complexes tower there . . . so unrecognizable, now. And this facility looks nothing like the lot on Vine. From these receipts, seems both facilities were in use in '61?

Curious now which one came first

Although I do see frames marked as North Hollywood from time to time, I'm not convinced that they're genuine . . . cynical me

What I will say is that the earliest frames --- pre-'56 . . . would have to fit the contemporary CA license plates . . .

    . . . which are a completely different size

And as for any Competition Motors frame from that time? . . .

    Competition Motors --- Inglewood . . .

    . . . is a mystery --- not even an address . . .

    . . . only this frame + account . . .
