I hope this wasn't all too much of a slam on the car. My perspective might seem a bit cynical (recent experiences and disappointments) but, I like to be cautious. Taking someone's word for something can be dangerous. These are fairly high stakes and even sincere sellers sometimes don't have the whole story because they just don't know. I'm much better with someone saying that their claims about a car are opinions rather than hard facts. The truth is that unless the car has been under one's direct control from new or has solid documentation and records, you really cannot know for sure what it's history is. I know that a car can be damaged on the boat ride over from Germany and repaired on the docks or at the dealer and we'de never know until a resoration is done. It happens.
