Scored a large displacement MFI setup

I posted this over at Pelican, I hope its ok to do this. Any help is appreciated.

What do you guys think this was from originally?

Intake port orifice measures 39mm, the top of stacks are 43mm. Everything was covered in dust, but it cleaned up nicely. The pump turns over smoothly by hand and the throttle plates all move smoothly and freely.

I know that the '73S shared some part numbers with the 2.7 and 3.0 RS cars on the MFI setups. Is there anyway to tell if this came off of a 3.0 RS without disassembling the pump and looking at the spacecam? Can you guys tell from the serial numbers?

    TIA

Thanks guys! I apreciate the help.

    Ok, heres the $64k question:

Can I use this on the motor Im rebuilding without re-camming the pump?

My motor is a 3.2 Max Moritz short stroke with GE40 cams. It was setup with small port SC heads and 40mm webers in its previous life and it was known to work very well.

I didnt want to change a lot of things on the rebuild becasue it was setup well, but I want MFI. This means I need bigger ports if I use these RS throttle bodies. I know it will function, but will the 2.7RS pump work well with my 3.2 and GE40s if I find a set of heads with 39mm intakes?

    TIA

    Late 1972...73 RS

There is a date stamp for Dec (week 52) of 1972 on the pump, so I would guess either a 73 S or RS

Ok, I know the probability that this came from a 3.0 RS is less than good. How can I tell for sure?

The port size is whats throwing me off. The RS had 36mm intake ports, these throttle bodies are setup for 39mm. I cant tell for sure that they have never been bored out, but I'd be willing to bet they havent

I know the 911/77 motor used the 2.7RS MFI setup and that the cars were only built (in very limited numbers, none of them in the US) to homolgate the 3.0 RSR for racing.

That setup was a great find. I might think about having the pump freshened no matter what because how will you know what you are working with? You can give the pump rebuilder the displacement, compression, port sizes ect. that he will take into account when doing the pump.

Hans at H&R here on Long Island did my pump with the above information and it did not even need adjustment once installed. It is not a big expense either compared to doing the stacks which you may also want to do. MFI is great when all is working properly which usually means fresh not worn components. Good luck.

    Best,

    Rsr Mfi

    Shuie,

Chuck is right, the pump number is a 2.7 RS pump number. Those throttle bodies appear to be ported standard MFI, as like on Dick Moran's 2.9 motor. In theory they should not fit (mount on heads) on a 3.0 or bigger engine, try to fit them up and see.
PM me if you other questions as I have all my reference material at work and I can find out just about any info you need. Hope this helps.

    All the best!
