    Porsches to Oxford?

.....Ohio that is. Not England, sorry Nick and Andy.

This anouncement appeared in our local PCA newsletter this month.

"Porsches to Pinckney III- won't happen. Seems the Blue Martini closed their doors forever the day after P2P2. The good news- the event will be held again in 2005 in Oxford, OH on 7/30. The town fathers of Oxford have agreed to block off the whole downtown for Porsches and the host hotel (The Elms) is located right on the town square."

Any midwest guys heard of this event? Sounds like a good excuse for a Early S reg. get together to me.

I was planning on going to P2P2 last year, but Kermit was still a tadpole. I have understood that it is a very nice get-together. John (caproader) brought it to my attention last summer.

Gotta figure out which events out of the Chicago area we're going to attend. P2P, Taj Kreuzers, the PCA Parade. They are all happening mid summer. I'm not going to convince Judy to go to all of them.

I have heard from Dave that the Taj get together is really something else. But it's not too early to plan and dream about green grass and green Porsches when there is a foot of snow on the ground.

Right now, a nice long drive (above 30ºF) sounds pretty damn good.
I'll try to make it. Is there a "rally" like P2P planned? Do you think they'll have a decent early car turnout? - or will I have to explain to all the 996 drivers I pass that I just have a stock 2.4 (again)?

Dave (cornpanzer) just posted the link tajmagaraj.com and date for the Taj event on Pelican. It's the weekend of June 5th. Schedule:

Fri June 03 - Quaker Steak and Lube Party (wings and beer)
Sat June 04 - MVSCC Autocross at Wright State Univ.
Sat June 04 - Taj Ma Garaj Porsche Museum Tour
Sat June 04 (evening) Taj Ma Garaj VIP gala
Sun June 05- Taj Road Warrier Tour (8 am)
Sun June 05- Taj Concours (Noon-5pm)

I have heard that the Road Warrior Tour is "not to be missed." I'm planning on being there, depending on my daughter delivering our first grandchild. Such conflicts . . . . . . no contest, the grandbaby wins.

    Oxford v/s Kreuze-in

    Hi
    My name is Richard.
I'm fairly new to the registry. I'm one of the "others" with a '70 E.
Dave's a buddy of mine, and I'll second what he says about the Taj Kreuzers event! Great get-together. You won't find a better group of Porsche addicts anywhere!

I've never been to the Oxford get together, although I did spend a brief stint as a student over there. The area definately makes for a beautiful drive, so if you're coming from Indiana to the Kreuze-in, plan the drive through Oxford.
If you can't make both anyway...

I am pretty sure the P2P event is gone. I checked the Blue Martini website and it is confirmed there that it is indeed closed. I was hoping someone else knew about the possibility of an event happening in Oxford OH for the first time.

On a related topic. Randy S. (the Midwest Esses guy ) has booked 10 rooms near the Road America track for the weekend of Sept. 16-18. We are hoping to generate some interest in a Fall Early 911 event there for the Elkhart Lake Vintage Festival races. I have never been to RA before and am looking forward to going.

Oxford is a really pretty town with many nice roads around it. The problem for me is that I am always at a VW race on the last w-e of July. The race is Sat.....so I may be able to come back to town for the Porsche deal.
FWIW, its only about 45 min from my home.

I will be en route to california for the 912 west coast rendezvous on 7/30, so I wouldnt be able to make it. (then again id rather drive cross country for 3 weeks than go to a 1 or 2 day show anyday).

There will also be a really cool event going on that weekend called Das Vroom. Its an all vintage geman car show in Columbus, Ohio (near German Village and the Brewery District areas). http://dasvroom.com/dasVroom/index.html
