    Australian TYP901 group run today

The Melbourne members of the Aust. TYP901 Register had an interesting run today. We were very lucky to have RS # 101, RS #495 and RS #1100 attend the day and I have posted some pics below. RS #495 recently came out of hiding and apparently has some interesting racing history. I plan to write an Article for Esses soon on these cars which are 3 of the approx. 20 known RS's currently living in Australia.

We were also blessed with the appearance of Justins blue 67S which has been in storage for over 12 years whilst he lived in the US. Some pics were posted on this board a while ago. Amazingly this car still has the front corner weights fitted, the original 4.5" Fuchs and a set of PORSCHE stamped Koni rear shocks.

I also posted a pic of the ducktail on #495 showing the covers fitted under the intake grill which covered the open throttle bodies fitted when it was raced.

Hope everyone likes the pics, we sure enjoyed the drive today in perfect weather along some flat out roads. Sorry no video this time but maybe next run we can show you some of the roads that we call 'home'.

Looks like you guys / gals had fun... I'll get in the next day or so with placing the Sydney drive on Yahoo and also placing a couple of pics on here.

    Hi Chuck,

yeah you would have liked the drive. Not as many corners as up near your place, but some big long straights to really wind out the cars.

our club secreatary, Lisa, drove her late fathers spcial creation, what he called a 356 Carrera Abarth. Its fitted wth a 2.0L S motor and it was keeping up with some of the quickest cars. Lisa grew up in 356's and 911's and is a mean steerer. Will try to find a pic of her car and post it.

    ... and of Lisa
It gives us a little perspective (and leverage) when it comes to the ladies in our life. Don't know about you'all, but I find it's hard enough to get a lady to sit next to me at speed - But a lady driv'n one of these things gett'n big in your rearveiw mirror... or gett'n small in front of you... ... I love it

    The Gregory Abarth

    Hi Chuck,

Lisa emailed me these pics of the car built by her late father. He was one of the early porsche gurus here in Australia and built this project car for himself to play with. Its not your ordinary 356 as you can see. Lisa says her dad often had it up around 250 KPH. And she was holding her own behind an RS or 2 on yesterdays run.

There is also a pic of Lisa and Phil Hearn (owner of Auto Coupe and another early 356 & 911 guru) Lisa is the one with the short(er) hair ! Lisa now runs here father's business - Spyder Automobiles; and is custodian of an unbelievable amount of early 356 and 911 bits, all kept under lock and key. Lisa still doesnt know about all the parts her dad hoarded away, many of which are NOS original porsche stuff still in bags and boxes. Her husband, Mike, is chief machanic and engine builder now that John has passed away.

We are lucky that have Lisa as our club secretary as there is no shortage of enthusiasm from her plus she is more of a pertol head than most of us. She helps a lot in getting the other wives and partners involved and as a mum, is always aware of the needs to keep the kids happy when we have a TYP901 event.

Hope you like this car, its pretty cool.

Feel free to visit our website where there are plenty more pics available at: www.typ901.org.
