    My new "special" roadster

I know this is a 911 site, but I wanted to share my new toy, and I think many of you appreciate 356s.

This beautiful custom roadster was created in the spirit of the special cars offered by the factory and custom coachbuilders in the Golden Age of the 1950s. It's exhibition at the Smithsonian Institution's Museum Of American History was featured in the September / October 2004 issue of the 356 Registry Magazine. It was also featured in the April 2007 issue of Excellence. At the 30th Anniversary event in Williamsburg, Virginia, it was the first Outlaw to win Best Of Show at a 356 Registry Holiday.

Depending on the light, the color, Hoffman Blue, shifts from Robin's egg blue to light grey, and it compliments the car's unique shape very well. The driver's fender sports a aluminum GT mirror. The interior has aluminum GT seats. The rear cowl and decklid were formed from the hood and cowl section of a T6 coupe, retaining the original latch and hinges. The louvers were cut from original decklids. The louvers on the cowl feed a duct which supplies the fan. The decklid covers a sizeable storage area, allows access to the engine. The sides of the car were rolled under. Well over 3000 hours of build time.

    My new "special" roadster

I am always amazed at the ability of some people to see in their mind how they expect the finished product to appear. I can't even imagine the work that went into that little project. Thanks for showing.

Rob ,I'm certain you are proud to be the new custodian of this very unique
piece,I'm actually very surprised Louis was able to sell it,as I'm sure this is the
    definition of his finest workmanship.
I've recently heard where the porsche brothers were overheard at the hershey parade remarking "Is this one of our's? If not it certainly should be!" thanks Bert
