Well, that's a good sign. I think it pretty much means you're alive.

An armored Mercedes Limo would be cool at an R Gruppe get together, right?
BTW, I know an R Gruppe member who just bought one. It was formerly owned by a President. How cool is that? Should it appear in a group photo of the gathering? I doubt it...

Please. Not even close. My 911 runs.

I was just trying to make light on a subject that got too heavy the other day.

    Good to hear.

Flame wars are usually unnecessary ego battles, or sour grapes. But then I also subscribe to, 'many a truth is said in jest', but keep it in perspective. Taking a shot, and laughing it off is just as important as realizing where the comments are coming from and what the comments are rooted in. As my good mother would always say. "Consider the source." (person and cause)

As all of us know, (so why am I saying it??) the relative degree of anonyminity afforded by the boards as well as the likelihood of exaggeration, or out right falsehoods, also feed the firefights. It is too easy to paint groups (or boards) with a broad brush.

As an R Gruppe member, I do track my car (a bit) and turn a wrench (a bit), but am no track expert or motor rebuilder. Am I a not a rich-guy or snob. I don't have either, but wouldn't mind a little more of the former. I do enjoy spirited drives on the back roads, but as age and maturity take root, I grow more cautious of the eventualities and temper my drives - not kidding myself of my all too evident limitations.

I also frequent the Pelican BB for lots of valuable info - but it takes some patience to find it.

To end my rambling/confessions - beware being the issuer or recipient of generalizations, and please lighten up. Cars, at least in my world, are not important enough to get ego-crazy about enough to villify others over or to get so upset about to come unglued over. People, in general, more than fullfill that role. I do have to say, cars ARE important enough to get upset about when hit by a blond talking on a cell phone driving an SUV.

No, it was just a joke. I'm a former R Grupper myself. I kind of have a wacky sense of humor and when things get too dark or heavy I always make some dumb joke to try and lighten things up. I think my Photoshop fits that description. It still makes me giggle like a school girl though in light of the situation it was refererring to and all the comments.

I have no animosity towards the R Gruppe. I do go half mental when I read about out of control "non sanctioned" caravans and triple digit speeding tickets for an entire caravan in which the cops are referred to as being the jerks. I don't care if they are WRX's perpetrating this, or early 911's. Cris came on and said he does not condone this stuff and these are grown men acting on their own behalf. That's true, so how can R Gruppe be blamed?

Now, let me ask, are you the guy in the impact bumper 911 and you didn't like the friendly fire taking your car out? <--------- just joking!!!!!

    Pretty funny

Poor Ed in the red bumper car. The coincidence is that at Monterey I described to him the longhood backdating kit that's available from Series 900. Bolts on, and the hood latch remains unmolested. You just need to add a tab to the hood release to reach it. Ed's car may well show up next time as a proper early look car!
