I don't know about that, if I had a set I sure would put them on. As a matter of fact I think I do need a set of these for the RS. I had Harvey redo my wheels and I haven't yet had the tires put back on. Man, those do look great. Would you run 185/70 on 7" and 215/60 on 8" wheels?Originally Posted by glaverbel911

Brian,, I prefer the skinny look 6" and 7"
But you can run those tire sizes on 7" and 8" if you wish. Its all personal preference.
Robert..
Well, Rob I guess it is a moot point because from what I can tell from the Pirelli website they are still not producing the 215/60 size in the CN36 tire.

Spoke to a "racing" division guy at Pirelli NA, he said they don't get the CN36 distributed through NA, but could be ordered through one of the Int'l dealers. I tried Canada but they did not have that tire on record. GB does and with the exchange rate they are nearly $500ea! I imagine the same through a Euro based country as well.
Coker is indeed selling the Michellin XWX for $275ea!
Would someone check out this tire, it is made by a Dutch company (Vredestein)that makes a tire model (Sprint Classic) that a vintage tire place called (Wallace Wade 800 666-8973)sells they have the 185/70/15 for $90 each.

Ancient thread and I guess we all know about the Vredestein Sprint Classic by now. But they make another interesting tire - the "Snow+". It is a snow tire with a period tread pattern and relatively hard compound (nothing like today's gummy winter tires). So it could easily be used on dry pavement (or dare I say gravel ).
This is an obscure tire and I'm told Universal Tire can special order them. There is a US source who claims to stock 2 sizes. One is a 155R-15 - that translates to 155/80-15. I think. Meaning about 24.7 inch diameter and for a 5-6 inch wheel. Perfect for our early cars. I realize Bill G. is the only board member brave eough to drive his SWB thru the winter , but this tire would be a nice choice (the only choice?) if you're going for a period rally look as well.

I still have the NOS spare tire that came originally on my 1971 911T. Like many of the T's of that era, it came with 14 x 5.5 in alloy wheels. The tires were Michelin XAS's - 185 HR 14. It used the standard tire profile of the times which was I think 78, so there was no profile designator in the tire size. It also had an asymmetric tread design.
I believe this was a common tire for the early 70’s 911T’s and 911E’s with the 14 x 5.5 inch alloys.
