    Question Identifying 901 Trans

Trying to find out the history of this trans 901-301-101-2R Year and Model. I'm new to Porsches and looking for good sources.

    901 Trans

As far as I know you can't tell much from the trans number, as they were not recorded against chassis numbers in the way that engine numbers were.

From memory (I don't have my car nearby) there is a 'transmission type' code stamped somewhere near the trans number that you have quoted. It will take the following form; 901/01 - the numbers I have shown are just for example only, the point I am trying to illustrate is that it will be three digits, then a '/', then two digits. If you tell me what this is I can then tell you roughly what type of 911 it was fitted to, for example a 1968 'T'.

    Cheers
