1969 911S performace and weight data needed

    Hi all,

I'm looking at a 69 911S as a historic race car project. My present 2.7RS replica is very well classed as a tarmac rally car but is not eligible for historic circuit racing. I would like one car to do both.

What are the hp, 0-60 (100), weight etc figures for a 69S? (and compared to an 'improved spec 2.7RS)

Historics circuit racing in Australia permits very few mods so the car would have to run close to stock. In rallying it would be pretty well handicapped being under 2 litre and being run in a stock class (my RS is presently in "Limited" modified class)

Any opinions on "real world" driving differences between these two cars would also be greatly appreciated. e.g. Will I miss the 2.7 torque?
    Cheers, Ryan

I'm onto to you Ryan ! I take it you're going to join the forces of group NB downunder?

I have all the info you're asking for; as will a lot of the guys on this board . Just not enough time at present to give it all to you...sorry.

    Cheers,

    hey lisa

yep, the plan is ro run in historics group Sb (thus avoiding the hordes of 74/75 Carrera's in group Sc...) plus probably being able to run in SS (certainly LMS) at targa etc.

i'm just concerned it will all feel a little slow compared to my present RS rep - which is pretty strong

i'll try and give you a call next week
    Cheers, Ryan

Yes, all kinds of specialty gear sets were available in '69. See the table below.

thanks guys - the gear set chart will come in very handy

am i right in thinking that the "standard" gears were in effect one of many options and thus not really standard per se?

    Ryan,

Standard is exactly that and the others are options (but you know that )...my understanding of the rules is that options are OK - anyhow gear ratios are "free" in a fashion - as long as they were made for the model that is, so pretty much anything in the spec book for a 2.0L S is legal.

    Lisa,

Ratio's are free for group S but i'm thinking that, with care, a car like this could also run in SS at targa - which requires 'standard' ratios (I think airport would be ok in this instance). SS is pretty nicely handicapped at targa.

One car: two sets of rules - oh the fun (not)...

    Ryan,

Don't I know it...all this talk about attempting to somewhat standardise the rules across competition - what a load of crap.

Targa rules say you must use the basic model, no options etc. That's for modern anyway - I think you have more flexibility for the earlier classes. Read the really fine print and only ask the eligibility guys if you really have to - I need to reread the new rules myself.

We've had guys having to put 6" and 7" back on 3.2 Carreras to compete, even though they were optioned with 7" & 8". They've had to remove the spoilers as well, even those these were an option and on it goes. Again, I think it's more free for earlier classes (thank God).

    Cheers,
