Hi guys, I found a 1979 911SC Targa for sale. It has 15K original two owner miles, one good respray on an original silver/black combo. Drives great, new clutch, windshield replaced because of chips. One fog lamp out. No tensioner upgrade or pop off valve Other than that a "real" strong car. It's the first time I've driven an SC. It's a little different than my old "70T". It can be had for $13. Seems like a very good deal. Your thoughs please. Thanks in advance....

Cool sounding car; could the mileage be 115K, due to an ODO rollover? Pics would help as well as the location.

Definitely 15K on the milage. There are receipts that document it. Originally an Illinois car. Still in the midwest. A/C is crapped out (as expected i guess).

Wow; low miles are pretty cool. Why did the car need a respray, though, with such low mileage? Was it in an accident?

No accidents. The current owner (#2) said it had some dings and scratches so he opted for the $4K paint job. It was a trim-off respray. All seams are arrow-straight and doors shut vault-like. I don't have pictures to post. Just wondering if the 30K-40K mile SC's I see in advertisements really get the $16K-$22K asking prices?.....

$13K for this car with a perfect PPI is a steal. I wish my garage was bigger right now. I'd love to have an SC for a daily driver, although with that mileage, it should be a garage queen.

Repaint due to stone chips & dings?

Windshield replaced due to stone chips?

This seems really unusual for a 15k mile car. You do say receipts back up the mileage- it is just really surprising that the original paint & windshield could take such a beating in 15k miles.

The current owner mad a mistake value wise in repainting the car. Generally a $4k paintjob will not be very good quality. If the mileage is confirmed with receipts & the paint were original I could see people paying $20-$25k for the car.

Bear in mind that at 15k miles the interior should like NEW - i.e. showroom condition. If not I can't believe the miles are genuine.

As described I would think $13k is a good deal.

If a glass out respray - not unusual to replace a windshield while you're at it.
Maybe it picked up a serious rock chip. I'm surprised how pitted mine has become 4k miles after repacement (from drafting Dave/Curt/Larry/Brian no doubt). Check other things - like pedal pad wear, steering wheel, drivers seat bolster... Good tells - as you will see a difference with an additional 100K miles of use.

Sounds like a good deal if you want an SC - but plan on spending an additional 4K on it right off the bat.

Good to hear from you Leon!
