Thread: eBay Sales History Thread - 911T

  1. #381
    Year: 1970
    VIN Number: 9110121944
    Winning bid: US $13,600.00
    Date sold: Apr-30-07
Notes: "This is a good running, smooth driving 1970 Porsche 911. Here are the details of the car. This car has the original Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche
    Here is what is states:

    VIN 9110121944
    Model Year/Type 1970 911T Coupe
    Engine Number 6106859
    Transmission Number: Not Recorded
Exterior Paint Code/Color Bahia Red 1313
Interior Material Color/Type Black Leatherette, Basketweave 11
Optional Equiptment: Antenna, Loudspeaker, Comfort Kit.

Exterior: The exterior of this car is in good shape. The car looks very sharp and has great lines and gaps. This car has had the front pan replaced as well as work done in the rocker panels. Please see the pics. The paint and the chrome are in very good shape. All of the glass is very good shape as well.

Interior: The interior on this car is in very good shape. The dash has no cracks, the headliner is in good shape, as are the door panels and the carpets. The door panels have the RS style panels. I have a matching set of the factory door panels with map pockets, arm rests and hardware that are included with this auction. This is a clean presentable interior.

Engine/Transmission: This is the original factory engine and it runs great. It had the carbs recently rebuilt and tuned. It has a custom exhaust with 2 outlets coming out of the center. This makes the car sounds great. This car does leak several small drops of oil and puffs alittle on startup. Nonetheless, this is a great driving car. The 5spd transmission shifts great and does not grind in between the grears. This car has a new clutch cable. This car fires right up with its new batteries.

Suspension/Wheels: This car has updated turbo tie rods and rebuilt brake calipers. In addition this car has a new brake master cyl. The wheels and tires are in great shape and have about 90% tread left.

Overall: This is a very good example of an early 911. It has 2 new Interstate batteries. It is a joy to drive and looks great."

    VIN Number: 9111100047
    Winning bid: US $9,119.11
    Date sold: Apr-30-07
Notes: "Car is currently registered in California. I've been driving it and it is a blast. I thought I could bear to sell enough bikes to keep it in the garage but I can't so it needs to go. Cold blooded starter since the Webers don't have chokes. Warm, it idles away and doesn't miss a beat, trans is solid and it doesn't pop out of any gear.

Runs true and doesn't have rattles or odd noises. Mechanically it is in great shape making me think the 97000 showing on the odo are accurate. New driver seat cover isn't installed, might get to it before it goes...probably not. Pan and suspension points are solid, has the area of rust pictured.

It was originally green and the repaint has nicks and scratches. All gauges except the clock work. Strong oil pressure and it doesn't run hot. Oil was just changed. Horn doesn't work and neither do the high beams and it feels like the brakes need bleeding. A nice, solid car that with some fiddling will be even better. Pick up available in Magalia, CA.

Just back from driving the car about 90 miles, probably my last ride in it since once it is paid for I won't move it. It drove fine though but, as usual, it was a bitch to start cold. Once warm, it spun over clean and fired right up and idled at 600 rpm.

70mph is just under 3,200 rpm and it felt like it could do it all day. It's met reserve and then some so be aware of the notes in the ad and in the questions-it has a variety of small issues though they are easily forgotten when you're behind the wheel but they are there and it will take some time and $ to put them all right. Also, the nicks and door dings don't show in the pix but they are there and the car should be repainted.

I've also turned up a new Porsche windshield rubber, some door shims, and a chrome period correct mirror that all go with the car at no additional charge."

Notes: "YOU ARE VIEWING A VERY CLEAN AND DESIRABLE 1972 PORSCHE 911 WITH A TIMELESS COLOR COMBINATION.

POWERED BY A DESIRABLE 2.4 LITRE MFI (MECHANICALLY FUEL INJECTED) MOTOR, NOTORIOUSLY SIMILAR TO THE MOTOR FOUND IN THE $100,000 911RS.

OVER $8,000 ALONE WAS SPENT ON UPGRADING THE CAR. THE BODY WAS PROFESSIONALLY UPGRADED TO 1980 SPECS WITH WIDE FENDER AND FLARES. THE INTERIOR WAS ALSO UPGRADED TO 1980 SPECS.

EARLY 911'S ARE COMMANDING HIGH PREMIUMS THESE DAYS. THIS IS TRULY A BLUE CHIP INVESTMENT THAT WILL APPRECIATE IN VALUE FOR MANY YEARS TO COME!!

NADA GUIDE VALUE FOR THIS 1972 PORSCHE 911:

    LOW RETAIL: $17,900

    AVERAGE RETAIL: $20,400

    HIGH RETAIL: $27,500

THE EXTERIOR OF THE CAR IS IN GOOD CONDITION FOR ITS AGE. THE PAINT IS SMOOTH AND SHINY AND THE PANELS ARE STRAIGHT AND TRUE, INDICATIVE OF A WELL MAINTAINED VEHICLE THAT HAS BEEN GARAGED. THERE ARE SOME SMALL ROCK CHIPS, NICKS AND BLISTERS IN THE PAINT HERE AND THERE BUT DOES NOT TAKE AWAY FROM THE BEAUTY OF THE CAR AT ALL!!!! THE LOWER BUMPER VALANCE IN THE REAR HAS SOME PAINT FLAKING. (PLEASE VIEW ALL PICS FOR DETAILS) CABRIOLET TOP IS IN GOOD CONDITION WITH A REAR WINDOW THAT IS CLEAR AS A BELL!!!

THE INTERIOR IS IN GOOD CONDITION. THE DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER SEATS DOES NOT HAVE ANY UNUSUAL RIPS OR TEARS AND SHOWS VERY WELL, WITH GOOD EVEN PATINA. THE DASH IS IN GOOD CONDITION WITH ONLY ONE HAIRLINE CRACK!!! THERE IS A SMALL TEAR AT THE PASSENGER DOOR PANEL (AGAIN, PLEASE VIEW PHOTOS BELOW FOR DETAILS) HIGH-END ALPINE STEREO TURNS ON BUT DOES NOT HAVE ANY SOUND COMING OUT OF THE TWEETER OR SPEAKER, SUSPECT A LOOSE CONNECTION.

THIS IS A QUICK AND FAST CAR AND DRIVES AS A PORSCHE SHOULD. IT WILL CRUISE ALONG THE HIGHWAY 80+ MPH SMOOTHLY AND EFFORTLESSLY. STEERING IS STRAIGHT AND BRAKES STOP THE CAR ADEQUATELY.

THE DESIRABLE 2.4 LITRE MFI MOTOR RUNS STRONG PULLING THROUGH EACH AND EVERY GEAR WITH POWER. THE DRIVER'S SIDE LOWER VALVE COVER COULD PROBABLY USE A NEW GASKET (COST $20-30) AS SOME OIL WILL DRIP ONTO THE HEAT EXCHANGERS AND MAY CAUSE SOME SMOKE OCCASSIONALLY. THIS IS NOT A SERIOUS ISSUE BUT JUST TAKING NOTE OF IT. THE SOUND OF THIS CAR IS JUST AWESOME AND IS MUSIC TO THE EARS....WAIT UNTIL YOU HAVE THE TOP DOWN!

THE TRANNY SHIFTS INTO ALL GEARS WITHOUT ISSUES AND PULLS THROUGH EVERY GEAR WITH POWER.

THIS PORSCHE IS SITTING ON A BEAUTIFUL SET OF BBS DEEP DISH RIMS. TIRES STILL HAVE A GOOD AMOUNT OF TREAD REMAINING. THE BODY AND PANS ARE SOLID.

PLEASE UNDERSTAND YOU ARE PURCHASING A PRE-OWNED VEHICLE THAT IS OVER 30 YEARS OLD. AND THERE MAY BE NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ITEMS SUCH AS MINUSCULE PAINT CHIPS, NICKS AND BLISTERS HERE AND THERE CAUSED BY NORMAL ROAD DEBRIS THAT ARE JUST COSMETICS."

    Notes: "MECHANICAL CONDITION

The 2.2 engine was completely rebuilt by Farmer Automotive 11/15/02. This included updating the clutch, chain tensioner, and front and rear torsion bars. We have owned this car since 3/19/01 but have service records that go back 10 years. There is some smoke at start up as with all early 911s but it quickly clears out. We have put less tham 3,000 miles on the fresh engine. The engine runs smooth and strong and is very responsive.

    WHEELS AND TIRES

The 15" Alloy Fuchs wheels are in good condition with tires that have less than 1,000 miles on them.

    EXTERIOR

The paint looks OK but if you look hard in places like the door jambs you can tell that it was red at one time. There are some normal road stone chips that have been touched up.

    INTERIOR

The interior is in good condition with leatherette seats. They are not riped or torn. The headliner is in good condition with no sagging or tears. The clock and trip meter do not work. All other gauges work properly and are in good shape. The Blaupunkt CD player was installed 2 years ago.

    SUMMERY

This Porsche 911T is a rust free, dependable, fun car. The original owner's manual and a Clymer, Porsche Service and Repair Handbook are included. Although this is not a perfect car, it turns heads where ever we drive it."

Notes: "Here is a 1973 Porsche 911 t 2.4 ltr. 5-speed non-sunroof coupe. This is a really nice driving car. The engine is equipped with bosch MFI and runs great and pulls strong throughout its entire rpm. The 915 5 speed transmission is also in good condition with no weird noises.

The body is in great condition for a 34 year old car. The previous owner replaced about 95% of the seals with new ones when he repainted the car. There are some imperfections in the paint. The hoods has three cracks in the paint below the hood emblem and a couple of rock chips. There is a small chip in the paint on the bottom of the rear decklid. The windshield has a small 2 inch u shaped crack at the upper corner on the drivers side. The wheels are oem 6x15 Fuch alloys with the tires having at least 85% tread life left. The odometer shows 60198 but should not be considered accurate. The headlights are new and are the U.S. H1s with great chrome trim rings.

The interior is in very nice condition with newer black carpet and door panels. The dash does have the typical cracks but has a nice plastic cover installed. The seats with headrests are original and in very good condition with no rips or tears. There is a aftermarket Momo steering wheel and leather shift knob installed.

This is not a concourse car and still could use some finishing touches but definitely perfect for a daily driver (as it is the last year for the long hood Porsche) or a rs clone conversion. I have tired to describe this car as accurately and honestly as possible."

I've got a new project coming in and have to make room. The engine was running it was removed to be cleaned and tuned. I will list everything that has been done to this vechile so far and what needs to be completed. This car is 90% done.

    WORK DONE SO FAR:

SUSPENSION: This car has two new rear shocks and two new strut inserts installed. The rear torsion bar and front pan show no rust and are all solid.

BODY: The exterior has been gone over and is nearly ready for paint. As stated above the undercarriage is solid in all areas of suspension. There was rust in each of the four corners of the floor pans and pedal box but this has been repaired. The longitutes, latitudes and sills are all solid.

DRIVETRAIN: This is a zenith carbed 2.2 Liter. It was removed for the car and thourougly cleaned and painted. The valves were adjusted. new Silicone seals were insalled on the upper and lower covers. there is a new oil presuure sensor. A new oil temp indicator. New chain ramps are installed. All new washers and nuts on the valve and cam covers. IT HAS BEEN UPGRADED TO CARRERA CHAIN TENSIONERS. All new crush washers on all oil fittings. New oil cooler seals. New fan belt. New rear crank seal. New return tubes. New oil filter. Air filter box with a new air filter is included although not pictured.

Transmission is a 901 which was in good working oerder when the engine was removed. It has been degreased and had its fluid replaced.

INTERIOR: Interior is in very good condition. No rips or tears. Seats were taken out of the car, disassembled and greased. All metal was stripped and painted. There is no radio. Targa is functional but will eventually need a rebuild. Includes a new dash cover that will need installation.

    WHAT IS NEEDED:

This car will need a starter and possibly an alternator (not sure). It has a brand new battery. I converted to a single 850cca but I have the original battery lines if you want to go back to the original dual battery system.

Body work will need finished. There is a small ding above the left front directional that will need pulled or filled.

Paint it the color of your choice.

    Tires need replaced."
