    Refurbishing Engine Lid Grille

The grille on my '72 coupe is rather faded and discolored. It appears that it was originally a dark annodized color. Is this correct? If so, anyone know about restoring one to original appearance? who/where/how, etc.

    thanks,

    Frank

Yes it is anodised and must be disassembled and the rivets replaced to be able to re do the anodising. I am sure someone in the states can do it if a small business in Australia is able to reproduce a near perfect finish on my 2.4S Targa

I've always considered the glass to be half full...that is until I reached middle age and realized that it is actually half empty.

    Hi Clyde

Firstly was that your white RS I was lusting over in a workshop in sunny down town Moorabbin during the week?

Anyway, I'm in the process of doing this restoration myself, and am looking for someone to take care of the polishing and anodising. Mind if ask who you used?

And you probably won't...he likes to play his cards close to his chest and as you have discovered you'll pay plenty for that; but my experience in the main is that you will get your money's worth.

Paul...pockets full of $$$ and then give Gary a call ...and take a real deep breath before you remove those rivets! And yes the RS spends a lot of time looking pretty in our workshop - either that or the 2.4S Targa...both are welcome for babysitting anytime .

    No.

    That's ridiculous, keep looking.

Nothing wrong with a little Patina if you just wanna buy another used one in above average condition???

    That's what I would do

    Thanks for the responses.

I've resolved that I will not be going as far as removing rivets on the base, its all in pretty good order as it is and will clean up well. I'll just have the base supports masked off and have the mesh sprayed and baked.

Found a couple of sources for both polishing and anodising, the later is a customer of mine who specialises in small fiddly pieces. All working out well I'll share these resources later.
