Thread: Just got my basic COA info by email...blown away!

Talking Just got my basic COA info by email...blown away!

I just got my COA and had always imagined that my car wasn't the original color, even though no traces are left. I had always assumed it was some odd '60s color (which I love), thus the repaint in '80s red. It turns out that not only does the car have a numbers matching engine and transmission, but the color was originally silver metallic #6851, which was always my number one choice.

I am beside myself. Now I am sounding like Don: do I repaint the car to achieve my silver dream or enjoy it in all of its red glory until it really needs it? I am now waiting for the official COA by mail to know which options the car originally had. I know I pissed and moaned about the cost of a COA in the past, but this was worth it!

Anyway, it's a good day and I wanted to share.

Great picture of your car !!

I would just leave it as-is, if/when the paint needs to be redone,
at that time consider a return to orig color. Its only $$$ man...

My E was orig. Irish Green, painted Leaf Green about 7 years ago.
I have grown to like the color so much, if I ever do a complete
resto. down to the metal, I will paint it Leaf Green.

As they say, Life is short, enjoy the ride....

I am going to leave it as-is, but if a repaint is ever warranted, silver it will be!

BTW, Leaf Green is a fave of mine, too!

Didn't your car have the paint code plate to tell the original color ?
Just think, now your smile will get wider with every rock chip and scratch. Not many can say that !

The car had no plates on it (VIN or paint) from the very high quality bare metal respray. I have sourced NOS replacements, fortunately. Now I can go about my business of stamping the paint plate.

Official COA just arrived in the mail

Considering all of the complaints I have heard, I was quite impressed with my COA; it is very nicely printed and on great paper. Very frameable.

    Now for the fun stuff:

Michelin Tires - I thought these were stock on all 'S' cars.

Leatherette interior, but has an additional option of "Headrest in Leather" - did normal seats have headrests? I thought they were one-piece high backs? My COA makes no mention of Sport Seats

High-Beam Headlights above Front Bumper - Long gone; I have established that these are driving lights which were most likely wired via relay into the high beam switch - COOL Yes, I am now in the market...

Tinted Glass All Around - Car still has it all...nice. Was a rear defroster an option? I see no mention of it on the COA, yet my car has a tinted rear defroster window.

Black Porsche Lettering - funny, mine are gold now

Electric Antenna - this is the most perplexing and potentially disconcerting. My car now has a manual antenna. Since electric antennas were on the right side, either someone did some nice body work or my fenders have been replaced. Perplexing indeed...

Blaupunkt Frankfurt - Becker Europa now for sale

Front Spring Strut - WTF is that?!?

BTW, would dealer installed options show up?
