The Cakewalk Is Over for Porsche

The ALMS GT2 field has basically been all Porsches with no competition. BMW and Lexus have both announced plans to enter the category via ALMS's new GT2S category (S stands for sedan). As I understand it, the cars will run head to head, but the GT2S cars will not be eligible for LeMans. With Porsche in LMP2 and others joining the fray, ALMS is looking real good for next year!

I read about BMW's return in this issue of Autoweek, and I put this in the category of good news. Both BMW and Lexus must feel that they can be competetive and afterall, competition is what makes it interesting. My hope is that the ALMS can continue to grow, as I find these machines much more interesting than the spec series run by the France Family. If only ALMS had Daytona...

Jim is right. It will improve the breed.
Best thing that could happen to the ALMS.
    The more the merrier.

Don't worry. Porsche now OWNS LMP-2 ... the new RS Spyder could very well be a P-1 car with a tad more development.

    The future is bright.
